About us
Our Mission Statement:

We the members of Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, being of one in body and spirit,
are called to proclaim through Word and Sacrament the Good News of God's grace for us and
all people, as revealed in the cross and to reflect the Good News in our life together, through
what we say and through what we do.

Our Vision Statement:

The vision of Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church is to identify, develop, and utilize our
God-given spiritual gifts as a means of living out our faith in Christ by encouraging and
providing care and healing, both in the congregation and in the community.

~Blessed to be a Blessing~
“…and on this rock I will build my church…”
Matthew 16:16

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church held its first worship service on October 15, 1961 in the
Carlsbad Women’s Club.  Its first pastor was mission developer, E. Charles Anderson, and under
his leadership, St. Peter was chartered in 1963 with 56 members.  During this time, the building
site on Pierce street was purchased.

The first building, housing the sanctuary, was completed  and dedicated in 1966.  On Reformation
Sunday, October 31, 2004, members of St. Peter took part in the service for the blessing and
dedication of their new Fellowship Hall and Education Wing.

St. Peter is celebrating its 45th year in the Rocky Mountain Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America.  It has been instrumental in the organization of the Carlsbad Community
Kitchen and Carlsbad Transitional Housing & Homeless Shelter, inc..  Its members share in the
day-to-day operations of these vital ministries in the Carlsbad community.

Standing on the solid foundation of our past we pray for God’s guidance as we chart our future.
We invite you to join with us as we seek to be effective witnesses for our lord wherever we are
led.
